I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've been using pc's since 1995 and I just bought myself a macbook (I know, it took long enough). At any rate, finding lots of valuable tips here in the forum (e.g. why I couldn't stay connected to my network WEP)!

I appreciate all the advice and look forward to learning more here.

Hello! Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I'm a recent Mac convert too. Been about 3 weeks and I've never looked back.

Hope you stick around Scott. It's great here

I'm pretty psyched. I've been fiddling around with my mac for a few days now. It definitely takes getting used to but I'm amazed at the community that's available (for resources and such). This forum is a definite plus. Anyway, hope all is well in the UK.

Just a quick question off topic (or onto a new one). I'm an enormous fan of Microsoft Word (especially since 2007 came out). At any rate, I've read in a few places how wonderful keynotes is... any comments or alternate suggestions? I've fiddled around with it but I'm not laying down some money when I just purchased the Office Suite a few months ago, plus I really don't see what makes it so wonderful. Just curious.

Thanks.

I liked Microsoft Office for my mac but if you are looking for a free solution then Neo Office is great. It's the Mac version of Open Office.

Mac Office 2004 is ironically good - in that in many ways it's superior to the PC counterpart. Mac Office 2008 should be even better, especially as it'll be Universal. I am hooked on entourage!

Neo Office is nice, but it just lacks that professional sheen. I don't crow about MS too often, but this is a class product.

I would agree with this. I graduated college about a year ago and I wasn't interested in purchasing a Microsoft Office, I love iWork but needed a spreadsheet app when google spreadsheets couldn't cut it. NeoOffice is a great choice.

I just (like 1 hour ago) picked up the 20-inch iMac (upgraded to 2 GB RAM) and OMFG!!!! How did I live without this my entire life?!! Not only is it probably the most beautiufull machine I've ever seen, but it is just fantastic...Next purchase is the wireless keyboard and mighty-mouse.

I switched as well. Only around 2 weeks ago!

I have not looked back, just hoping my dad will install Linux on our desktop. Then I don't have to see Microsoft Windows.

I can't believe I never considered a Mac before, I really regret having PC's for 10 years.
