Well I've been a PC guy forever. In fact I remember making fun of my dad when hey bough a brand new II GS...like a hundred years ago. I work for one of the big PC makers and am just disgusted with where everything has ended up...another rant.
So I've been in the market for a new laptop for a while. Gave old one up in the divorce last year and have been using my work machine for everything. Needless to say, I want to move on to my own system. I recently bought a competitors laptop for my 5 year old, and it's OK for that level of use, but man is it bogged down with junk and now with Vista...Oy Vey. With a little research and a lot of faith, I jumped head first into a brand new Mac Book Pro - 17' Glossy, 2.33, 2gb RAM, 160GB HDD, 8x DVD Burner, etc. Just bought it on-line Friday and it is suppose to arrive Mon or Tues (already shipped). Just to feel like part of the club, I bought a black Nano of eBay tonight. I spent a couple of hours at the Apple Store playing with one and I feel pretty confident that I will be able to power it up and fire up Safari to get back here, but guys....get ready to see A LOT of my name. So I can just slip that iPOD thingy into my cars CD slot, right? :dummy: |

Congrats. It's always exciting to get a new machine, but making the switch adds a little excitement to the process. If you haven't already done so, check out Apple's Switching 101 index - it can tell you a lot of basics about OS X, connections, how to do things you used to do in Windows, etc. There are quite a few other excellent guides to switching online.
People are also quite helpful around here, too. |

Thanx for the welcome y'all.
Have spent at least half of this weekend on this forum. What a great resource! Already have a folder full of bookmarks that I will be copying over. Think I'm ready to jump into this and start breaking things Ordered mine Friday and it's already at the local FedEx!!! If they don't deliver, I will be picking it up tomorrow. Anyway thanx again...the search features here are good, but I'm sure I'll be back soon. |
