I just bought a HP all in one printer, etc. My policy has always to been: don't use the sw in the box, use the sw on the website.
I found the driver on the HP site and downloaded it. It eventually appeared with the final extention of .download. The download manager informed me it couldn't open the file. I tried opening it specifically with stuffit but nothing happened. I tried to rename it to end in .hqx but I couldn't see how to do so. I finally downloaded the file to my pc, burned a CD-R, put the cd-r in the iBook and installed with that. So, the problem is solved.... But, what was the problem-- hp's website, my mac or something else? Is there a simpler solution if this happens again? |
