Wow thank you all for this info. I am a brand new Mac user. I picked up my G5 last night and I have a grin from ear to ear. This is extremely helpful information. You will be seeing a lot of me...
Got a new iMac last week. It's the business. I've already downloaded a load of widgets and apps for it. I still have to figure out how to use spaces effectively and just what I can do with workflow.
I just purchased a brand new MacBook (2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD) last month and I have to say it's one of the best moves I have made. I'm glad I found this resource/forum as I sure it will help me me answers many questions!
I'm getting ready to purchase a mac, and let me tell you what, it's scary, getting ready to switch. I think you'll see a lot of me in the coming weeks and months.

Q: Can I use my new MacBook/MacBook Pro while it's closed with an external monitor/keyboard/mouse? A: Just connect the external hardware (even while the notebook is closed and sleeping), press any key and the notebook should wake from it's sleep.
It's a little more complicated, at least on my macbook. There is more than one way to do it, but the only one I remember is to put the notebook to sleep with the external keyboard attached, but not the external monitor. After it's asleep, attach the monitor. Wait a few seconds, then hit any key on the keyboard.
Just wanted to say to Eric who wrote this thread that Id like to thank him very much for the best switchers thread on the web.
This page has been bookmarked and its like having a Windows to Mac OS translator on my desktop.
No other thread or article that I have come across has made sense of it all as simply as this.
So a big THANK YOU eric for your time and effort. Even thought you wrote this in 2007 it is still helping switchers like myself years later and Id bet money it will continue to do so in years to come.
