I have Quicktime installed on my new mac and recently downloaded MPlayer OSX 2 or w/e it is and love it, but is there a way to designate all video files that I download to be played in that specific format. Most of the time they try to play in quick time and it doesn't work, so I have to open MPlayer and do the whole file/open thing. Thanks for your time!

in finder, select one of your video files you want to play using mplayer and pres comand+i or get info in apple menu. click on the "open with" triangle and shoose the Mplayer. after you set the app just click "change all"

And by the way, VideoLAN is better than MPlayer. (Yes, I know MPlayer rocks. VideoLAN rocks more.)
