Microphone mute?[ibook 700mhz G3 dual-usb]

How do i mute my microphone. i installed loadsa dj software to test them out now i can hear myself talk when i wear headphones and when i unplug the headphones and if the volume is on full it squeaks - very annoying.

I had the same problem. Use the 'Audio MIDI Setup' to fix. Go to Applications / Utilities / Audio MIDI Setup. Uncheck the "THRU" box on the bottom under Audio In.

Thanks alot. i will remember that for next time. but to solve the problem i just resorted to my old windows way and that was to reformat.
