Hi. I have a XP, Ubuntu and Panther machine running and I access the Mac and Linux with VNC and a KVM Switch. For some reason the Mac will not give me a resolution greater than 640 x 480 @ 67hz. I tried cscreen to no avail. How do I manage to increase the resolution without having the monitor directrly plugged in when I start the mac and then switch it out to the KVM. I would really prefer to run them on VNC so I have access without having to "switch" the KVM but need (well, WANT is a better word) better resolution on the Mac.

Thank you

Oh, on a side note. This is a 300 Mhz PowerPC G3 with 352 Mb RAM. Is there any way to install Tiger on this. I tried and it told me it couldnt install on this hardware. I am not Mac literate enough to warrant buying a G4/5 or a mini or the like yet but would gladly run Tiger if possible.

You can definitely upgrade, but the newest I've gone on an older Mac is 10.3.9 Panther. You may get the beachball/pinwheel alot in Tiger. I'd try Panther first and see how it runs, if that works financially.

As far as the VNC, I access and work on the older comp (iMac 233MHz w/384 RAM) with Apple Remote Desktop.
Maybe these links can help you with resolution:

Hmm... and how do you intend to get literate? I wont bother with the 129 for Tiger but not a new machine with it pre-installed. Finally I'm sure you would gladly run it but with that hardware you will mostly likely be talking a paced Sunday stroll.
