Windows to Mac switch

I finally did it! I got my brand spankin' new Macbook 2.0 last week and it's been a blast! I was formerly on an IBM laptop and it has all of my music on it. I was reading in the os x help section that you can connect both computers directly with an ethernet cable to create a mini network and share the files. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some info on how to do this. Much appreciated.

Do you want to just be able to access the files while keeping them on the IBM or do you want to move the Files over to iTunes on your MacBook?
