My iMac's fan has been running a lot louder than usual. Even when its just sitting there, doing nothing. Anyone know what is causing this?

Mine ran really loud this morning after installing and running AppleJack. I have had this RevA iMac G5 1.6 for 18 months and it has always been as quiet as a mouse.

I was shocked to hear it sounding like Manchester Airport when I ran AppleJack! It would not even calm down - constantly loud.

I turned it off again (not sleep mode) and then back on again - still the same - immediate loudness as soon as power switch was turned on.

The only thing I could think of doing was turning it off and unplugging it for a minute or two. This, thankfully has worked, so give it a try and see

Fondest regards, Kyomii
