What mac? iMac, Mini, Mac Pro, MacBook, or Air, or Pro
What OS X version? 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, or 10.9
What printer brand and model?

iPod 5th gen 30gb, iPad 2 16gb WiFi iOS 7, iPhone 4s 16gb iOS 7.

And what do you mean by "Windows printer?" Are you running Windows on your Mac? If so, is it Boot Camp, Parallels, VMWare, other?

And just to add. Many printers are both Windows and Macintosh compatible.

And what type of connection does the printer need to have? There are adapters, if necessary, although that might be a thing of the past.
