I recently purchased a Macbook Pro and I would like to upload content I put on a Maxtor external hard drive from my pc but the Macbook does not recognize the Maxtor. How can I transfer this data?

It should at least see the drive

But you can also transfer your stuff directly using Migration assistant

Have you tried to mount the drive through Disc Utility? Can DU see the drive at all?

If the Disk Utility suggestion does not work, then you might want to give us some more information, e.g. new or older MBP, OS on the laptop, and the model of the Maxtor drive - might help others in providing further advice - good luck!
