watching movies on tv through mac

have connected mac & tv with appropriate cables.
have set correct input on tv, & am getting whatever the fullscreen picture on the mac is called on my tv.
how do i test, if i can get a video via the net or wherever i am to get a movie from, on the tv to see if it all works?
AND! where is the best place to get movies from? other than i-tunes.

Connecting your Mac to your TV

To test it, try playing a movie from iTunes (or a movie trailer if you don't yet want to rent a movie). That should tell you if everything's working properly.

The best place to get movies from other than iTunes? Netflix.
