I'm confused already.... looking to learn something about Java on Mac, I come across references to "Windows"...... is this the Microsoft/ Bill Gates creation or something only applicable to Apple/Mac ???? can someone clarify the terminology for me.

How about "cluing" us in on what references you are referring to (we cannot read minds)?

"Windows" can refer to the Microsoft operating system...or it can simply refer to a "window/windows" on the desktop of a computers display.

Thanks that was a help 'tho maybe you don't think so........studied a little more and I think
most of the problem is resolved, in general it appears to refer to PC's and Mac together.
Most of the reading was from Paul Learhy About.com

Well Macs are PC's.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
