    Specs:
    2011 13" MBP 2.3ghz, 8gig ram, OS 10.8.5
    Onyx works well...and it's free.

    Specs:
    Imac 27", 3.3GHz, 512 flash storage, 16GB memory, macOS Sierra.
    Avoid Mackeeper like the black death! As Nick said go with Onyx.
    Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

    MacKeeper = Bad!
    Onyx = Good!

    Yea as said before stay away from MK. It is bad, but there marketing is good because it pops up everywhere.
    Oynx is good but if you go that way, you NEED to make sure that you download the version that is compatible with the OS you are running. If not you could do more damage than good.
    Personally i found Oynx a bit of a pain to use for someone that didnt know how to use it, so i went the MainMenu way. Does a good job, and is easier to understand than Oynx so i paid for the full version.

    Cheers
