macbook osx removable battery

how can i tell by looking if my osx has a removable battery. i need to reset the smc

Which Mac do you have (year and model)? If you take the back off your Mac and expose the battery you'll know if it's removable. (The newer Macs from late 2010 on have a non removable battery.)

Expand the blue link for Resetting SMC on models with a battery you should not remove:-


Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
