Ok this might sound like a stupid question but here goes, I put something in the trash can on my Mac and I realized that I needed a couple of the items I sent, I tried to return them back but couldnt figure out how to do this, I ended up having to drag the items to my desktop. is the another way to do this so it goes back to where it was removed from?
Thanks Gary |

hi gary,
i can't think of any better way - maybe it goes back when you do a right click on the item in your trash and click "put back" My Mac Journey! Tips and Tricks I share with you - http://www.themacmania.com |

Put back works if you use finder, but often doesn't work if you put it in the trash within another program...

A question related to this 'Trash' post. I've noticed that some items moved to the 'Trash' will show up as waded paper in the bin. Others will be completely deleted as soon as I move them to the 'Trash'. The items still in the bin are no problem for me to move back. Of course those items deleted right after I move them to the bin are completly gone. Why? If needed, how can I recover them?

Hi AliOop,
These disappearing files from the trash happened to a friend of mine and she did the following, 1. Deleted the Finder preferences. 2. You should find them in Yourhomefolder\library\preferences. 3. Drag com.apple.finder.plist to the desktop and reboot your machine. 4. Check the trash behavior with an unwanted item It has never happen to me so I can not guarantee the above will work for you. |

I totally agree with @Aqua. I have Path Finder app and every time I delete something using it, when already inside the trash I can't find the "put back" function if I want to restore the file. But if I delete using using Finder you can have the "put back" function when in trash. |
