There are several posts for this question, but the ones I find were last posted to in 2010 or so. Lately there has been some media attention to so-called viruses for OS X. I would like to know if there are any RECENT comparisons of free anti-virus software for OS X, please.

Personally I do not run an AV, and at present see no reason to on OS X, some feel that ClamAV is OK.

Personally I run the free ClamXaV, but only let it scan my mail folders and download folder, it catches any dodgy emails carrying Windows threats, other than that there is no great need. At least ClamXaV doesn't interfere with the performance of my Mac

I don't bother with any type of anti-virus on my Mac, and you'll find that most of the senior forum members don't bother either.

I am with Stretch. No viruses for Mac OS X.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
