I was testing something in the "User" account and I found a text file named as portdetect.log

Does anyone have any idea what does it do? It look strange to me.

I've tried searching & I found out that you can find it in /Library/StartupItems - but I can't seem to find where is this path.

Can you help me? Thanks

I don't have this file on my system. Are you using a wireless router and or modem? Or, special software from your ISP? It may be a proprietary file associated with your modem or router. Can you read the contents of the file? If it's a log file, it should be in text format.

Take a look here for an explanation. Do you use mobile internet with your Mac?
