How do I transfer all my stuff on my old laptop to the new laptop? I have a lot of songs on my iTunes and I need to make sure those and a lot of pics get transferred. I know I should've done it a long time ago, but I was lazy and a friend is buying it tomorrow.

There's a built-in Migration Assistant on the new laptop (I'm assuming these are both Macs or you're upgrading from a PC laptop to a Mac notebook?). Just follow the prompt and have a USB or Firewire cable handy to connect the two machines.

In addition to what chas stated, you could also use Time Machine assuming your old laptop is a Mac that was running at least Leopard. Make a TM backup and when your new Mac is first turned on, you'll be asked if you would like to transfer data from another Mac. Reply yes and attach your TM drive.

Yes these are both Macs. The problem is I set up my new lap top a long time ago and I skipped the the transfer part from when I first turned it on.

You can still use either the Migration Assistant or Time Machine (if you made a backup of the old Mac). Just be careful what you migrate over especially since it's been awhile. You may be better off doing the transfer of apps or files/folders manually to keep a better handle on it. You can use an external hard drive or flash drive for the transfers.

I have an external hard drive, but how to I manually select the things I want to transfer over to the new laptop?

If it's documents, photos, music, and the like, the easiest method is to drag and drop to the external hard drive. Other things like programs require a bit more care. Some programs are very simple and can be copied over the same way, however, more complex programs such as iWork, Office, etc. must be reinstalled.
