I recently erased and reinstalled the Lion 10.7.3 OS on my mac and now the Preferences on my desktop hd is not showing anymore. I've already tried setting the Preferences option under the Finder menu. Does ne1 know how I can get it back?

What Finder desktop preferences are you missing? Are you referring to showing your MacIntosh HD on the desktop or something else? I'm sorry but you're not being very clear about what's not showing.

Are you referring to the details about your HDD not showing under the icon of the HDD, or is the HDD icon just missing completely? Haha be a bit more specific

Sorry for not being clear. I'm referring to my Macintosh HD on the desktop. When I open it, I'm only getting the Applications, Library, System and Users folders. The Preferences folder is missing or just not showing up.

My MacIntosh HD does not show it either. What you have to do is select "Applications" and then select "System Preferences.app".

If you wish, you can drag the "System Preferences.app" to the sidebar and it will stay there as an icon which you can select. Although that's probably redundant since it should already be on your Dock.
