My macbook pro has no sound all of a sudden. It is set to built-in speakers and the sound level is on high and it is showing up in the menu bar but nothing is coming out. The only thing I've done differently was charge my kindle yesterday and that seems to be when the sound went.

Make sure that the volume is up and unmuted (in my case it's muted - you want that box unchecked):

Is your sound device recognized? In other words, does OS X see that you have built-in speakers? Have you plugged anything in lately?
