Why do I lose Safari when I go to Numbers?
And why do I lose Numbers when I switch to Safari?
I know I can restart Safari or Numbers, but how can I prevent losing them?

I'm using Lion, I-Mac

What do you mean by 'lose'?

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

By "lose" I mean that the open Safari window disappears (it does not just go into the background) when I switch to Numbers; I then have to reopen Safari.

When I'm using Numbers and try to go on to Safari, Numbers disappears and then I have to restart Numbers after I leave Safari.

Thank you

Your not actually losing the applications. If you have the apps opening to full screen when you switch to another app, it changes to a new desktop, but the other app is still open. You can switch desktops by pressing the Ctrl+left or right arrows on your kb. Hope this helps
