Every time I quit software from Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), it automatically opens a New File.
So essentially, I have to close every MS Office twice for every use.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm not sure if it's related, but this only started happening after I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion.

When you shut down an application in MS Office, the next time you start the application, it opens a new document?

Or, when you close a MS document, it opens a new one?

Anyway... Open System Preferences, General, remove the check from the box that says "Restore windows when quitting........."

Your suggestion worked.
Thanks very much! That was really becoming a nuisance.
