First off I am new to mac's (actually I am new to computers!)
I recently was given a used macbook pro a1278. I recieved original box, all original cds/dvds BUT the macbook does not have a hard drive. My question is if I buy a new hard drive for it will I be able to load the operating system from the original disc's that came with the computer (if so how is this done?) or will I have to buy a new operating system? |

You should be able to buy a standard 2.5 inch IDE drive and install it with relative ease.
If you have all the original discs -- including the operating system / system restoration disc -- then you needn't buy anything. Just put the disc in the drive, reboot, and follow the prompts from there. Good luck! Z |
