Word attachments

I recently upgraded to OS X 10.7.2 and now I'm having trouble sending word attachments. They are attached as a word doc but arrive at the recipient in some other form that they are unable to open. Can anyone assist

Yep, look under Edit > Attachments. Is "Always Send Windows Friendly Attachments" checked, like so?
