how long should battery last

hi everyone have my macbook pro about 3 weeks now loving it but the battery only lasts about 2 and half hours how long should it last ? is there anything i can do to improve it? i have let it run out completly and fully charge again

That will depend on what you're doing while on the battery - but I would expect it to last longer than that. Can you describe your usage while experiencing the 2.5hr battery life?

hi thanks for quick reply, im mostly uploading old home movies i have on dvds, putting them into imovie and then in itunes to play on my ipad, and while that working away i would be on net, ? what do you think ?

This is a very very very high demand activity. Why the heck are you doing this on battery power anyway...why don't you have your MacBook Pro plugged in?

Doing this sort of activity on battery power is like driving your car with the pedal to the floor. If you did that with a car...you would get very very poor gas mileage. You're basically doing the same thing with your laptop.

Just do your "normal" internet surfing on battery power...and you'll find that you should be getting the approx. 7 hours battery runtime you're supposed to be getting.
