Hi im sophomore in high school. This will be my first Mac and I'm not sure what to get. Portibility is not an issue for at least another 2 years when I go to collage and by that time I'll upgrade to something else. So I either want a iMac 21 inch or a MacBook pro 13 inch. Where I'm from they both cost the same so price ain't a problem. The unit will probably never leave my desk so like I put earlier portability is not a problem for at Least 2 years and by that time I'll get something else. So any opinions on what I should get? Thank you

Your question is sort of like asking..."Should I buy a boat or a car?".

Folks purchase a laptop computer for portability...other folks buy a desktop because they don't need portability. So you should first decide if portability is something you need.
After you answer the portability question...then deciding between the 13" MacBook Pro & iMac you mentioned will be very very easy!

p.s. Also keep in mind that you usually get more "bang for your buck" with a desktop...or desktops with the similar specs to a laptop are usually less expensive.

- Computer slow, too many "beachballs", read this: Beachballs

I think you basically answered your own question here....if the mac isn't going to leave your desk then you really have no reason not to go with an iMac. You'll get a better display....much larger hard drive and an overall "better" computer (specs wise) then a macpro. 2 years down the line is a long way away for a laptop...especially in the world of Mac where you can expect some huge changes to the models every couple of years.

You're just looking at more bang for your buck with the iMac...and they are stunning to look at.
