Help! Virus?

Hi. My daughter has a Macbook. Recently, when she tried to start it, we got several questionable screens. ( please see attachments). I've gotten help from my brother-in-law, who can usually help me with these things.
We tried the re-boot,(opt.,control, P, and...oh...i forget), and also start while holding the"c" key down. I keep getting the same screen.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions?
She really needs her computer asap for homework, and I'm hoping I don't have to spend an arm and a leg to fix this!

These are kernel panics, similar to a windows 'blue screen of death'.

Do you have a backup, or an OSX installation disk?

Where are you located? I'm in Chicago

I'm pretty sure cross-posting is not allowed. Why would you want to have two threads with different people troubleshooting the same issue?

Looks like a kernel panic to me. It won't reboot at all? Try reseating the RAM.

That is a Kernel Panic. Do you have the OSX DVD that comes with the macbook? If so put the DVD in the drive and boot with the C key held down (After the Startup Chime) till it starts to boot from the DVD. Do you still get the Kernel Panic? If so, it's hardware and probably (but not for sure) the RAM as Brian mentioned above. Report back.

And make sure to unplug any external peripherals when you try the above.
