Boston digital BA735

My mac book, 2.13 GHz with 2 gigs of RAM will not play Boston Digital BA735 speakers. This is a powered speaker system and the headphone jack plays other speakers just fine. Just wondering if there is some kind of setting that needs attention to play these speakers.

Just don't go spend over $100 for a converter at the site they're recommending. Here's one for just over $10.
