Cleaning out my MacBook Pro?I'm trying to clear out my Macbook Pro and get rid of some files I won't need any more, and was wondering how I can clear these out of my side bar:
The folders have been moved to a different location. I've tried dragging out of the tool bar, but it bounces back. Thanks a lot!

Welcome to the Mac Forums.
The proper way to remove anything from the Finder side bar is as follows:
1. Open Finder
2. Click on Finder menu item
3. Select preferences
4. Select "side bar" tab
5. Remove check from items you do not want to appear.
6. Close Finder

Tried it. Those folders aren't listed.

Hmm! Should work by dragging off to the left (kinda onto the desktop). Or right-click on the item and choose "Remove from Sidebar".

Yes, right-clicking and choosing "Remove from Sidebar" should do it, but remember that everything in the sidebar is just a shortcut to the real folders themselves. Removing them from the sidebar does not remove them from your hard drive. You have to get at the actual folders to delete them.

Dragging doesn't work, and this is what pops up with the preferences.

The Preferences popup only lists which KINDS of shortcuts appear in the Finder sidebar. So close that and forget it for now.
Did you try right clicking and choosing "Remove from Sidebar"? And when you try dragging things out, are you dragging them as if you were trying to put them on the desktop, or are you dragging them somewhere else?

I'm dragging them right off to the side to the desk top and they bounce back in. I may just take it to the store and see what they say.

You still haven't told us if you've tried right-clicking on the individual items and choosing "Remove from Sidebar".
