    Icons in Applications Folder
    Another Newbie question,

I loaded Onyx, however the Icon in my applications folder on the Dock bar is a generic icon with a white circle/slash.

In Finder, it shows the regular icon.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

    Specs:
    Late 2013 27" iMac, iPad 3, iPhone 6s+, iPhone 6+, 3 iPods, Sierra
It appears it was never properly placed on the Dock.

Just startup OnyX and when the icon appears in the Dock, right click on it and choose keep in Dock. Or drag the icon from the applications folder to the Dock. That will take care of it.

    Thanks, but let me clarify.

I didn't really want to keep it on my Dock. When it runs, it shows the proper Icon on the Dock Bar.

When not running, it shows the generic icon in my Applications folder that I access from my Dock Bar.

I hope this explains it better. Everything operates fine, just the icon issue bugs me.

    Thanks!

    Specs:
    Mid-2012 MBP (16GB, 1TB HD), Monoprice 24-inch second monitor, iPhone 5s 32GB, iPad Air 2 64GB
Restart the machine, the icon database will rebuild and the problem will be gone.

If that DOESN'T fix it, it means you have a half-uninstalled second copy of OnyX somewhere and should trash it. Then put the latest copy into the dock in its place. Or not, if you don't want it.

You can remove icons from the dock by right clicking on them or just dragging them up and out of the dock and letting go. Poof.

Restart worked. Thanks for the assistance!

Maybe I ought to restart the Mac more often than every OS update...

Seems I find some reason or another to restart once every 2-3 months.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
