Does anyone know if the current programs (e.g. Office 2011, Photoshop etc.) installed on snow leopard will work on Lion? Or do we have to re-install them?

IF (and that's a big if) for some reason these programs would not work with Lion...reinstalling them wouldn't make a difference....since you would be reinstalling the same version. You would need newer or updated versions of these apps.

Wait until Lion is released...then there are usually websites that are created that list most programs...and they will indicate if a version of a program is compatible or not compatible with the newest OS X release (OS 10.7 Lion in this case).

Most software that work under Snow Leopard SHOULD continue to work under Lion, but again nobody who can say anything knows for certain, since Lion isn't done cooking yet.

Those titles are pretty new, so I wouldn't see why they wouldn't be supported on Lion.

There will probably be a list posted of applications that Lion "breaks" just as there was when Snow Leopard was released. However, I wouldn't worry about it because just as before, authors will catch their programs up fairly quick if they want to stay competitive.

Thanks guys! I was hoping if the developers had their hands-on with Lion yet ... Otherwise its really hopeless to release the OS and find out many of the softwares dont work ... I am assuming that these software will work without hassel ... just wanted to see your opinion ...

Any one with concerns about their existing applications and/or are using any app that you cannot live with out, will need to wait to get Lion until it is confirmed their app will work.

This always has been and likely always will be true with any new OS.

This isn't a list of every app, obviously, but it's a good start:

Wow...I didn't realize that one of these lists was started already.

Thanks for the link!

This will only affect people who never update their software. I'm sure there will be much hue and cry when Lion comes out from these people, until we point out that the program they are crying out has been updated six, seven, twelve times since they bought it, and they never bothered to update even when the update was free.
