Move Picture from Desktop to Iphoto

I have several pictures on my desktop that I want to move to Iphoto. Can someone give me some help on how to do this? Thanks,

Open iphoto and drag the picture into iphoto. Iphoto will import the picture.

OK, but I need to make IPhoto smaller. It takes up the whole screen and I can't find any tutorial on how to make it "less than the whole screen". thanks.

In the lower right corner of the window is a diagonal striped area. Click and drag that corner to re-size. You can also move the entire window by click and dragging in the upper gray bar. The photo can be relocated on the desktop so that it is at one of the corners of the desktop for easier access, use the same technique.

You can select all the photos on your desktop and drag them onto the iPhoto icon in the dock. iPhoto will open and import the photos automatically. After that, choose File>Export and choose the new dimensions you'd like to export your images to.

My favourite feature of OS X.

>system preferences>expose & spaces.

With the way I have it set up.

-open iPhoto
-drag curser to top right corner
-select and drag the images from the desktop to the top right corner.
-hover over the full screen iPhoto.
-A green + sign appears.
-release the mouse or trackpad button.
-the images are now in iPhoto.

You can select which corners you want doing what you want of coarse :)

Moving Photos from Desktop to iphoto

After I drag the photo from desktop, & import into iphoto...

How do I remove the photo from my desktop... so my desktop is not cluttered with photos?????

Drag the desktop icons to the Trash icon in your Dock. That does not delete them. To do that, right click on the Trash icon and select Empty Trash.

If they are imported iPhoto you can delete em. They are stored in the iPhoto Library under your Pictures Folder of your home directory.

so just to be clear ...

if i import photos to iphoto... a copy of them is saved there.

i can then drag photo on desktop to trash, empty trash & it will be gone...

BUT - i will still have a copy of photo, in iphoto?????

NO! They are ONLY stored in iPhoto if iPhoto is set that way in Preferences. Under Advanced see that Save Photos to iPhoto library is checked. If it is not then your photos will NOT be copied to iPhoto so if you trash them you will have lost them.

I think that's the default setting. But I can't be sure.:\

I believe by default this option is selected so unless you've been changing all the default settings you should be safe to delete any photos you've imported in to iPhoto.
