2010 iMac-CD loads into VM instead of iMac

I run VM Fusion for the few apps that I have not been able to substitute. With VM open on the Dock, if I load a CD, the CD is recognized in VM, not on the iMac.

Is there a way to point the CD drive to the iMac when both machines are active or do I have to suspend VM before loading a CD?

How do you like VM? Is there some reason you opted not to use Bootcamp running Windows? I ask because this CNet article seems to indicate Bootcamp is faster.

I'm not sure how to change the default behavior off-hand, but you can toggle how the CD is mounted using the Virtual Machine menu:



There's also a little control for disc handling on the VM window:


Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
