Question about previewing in finder

ever since i "semi-modified" my eMac (changing icons, adding GUI kits, etc), i haven't been able to preview my files in the finder, whether the files be simple .jpg or if its a .mov files. is there something somewhere that i need to check to turn this feature back on?

View -> View Options

Show item Preview
