How do I check hard drive space in OS 9 like you can in OS X with About This Computer (Show More)

Click on the Hard Drive icon you want to get the info for, then I think it's in the File drop down, look for get info.

Also if you click the Apple you should see Apple System Profiler. That will tell you the same basic info that About This Computer does under OSX.
