If you don't want to load a full copy of Windows, I'd suggest getting a WINE application (like Darwine) and installed Internet Explorer on it. ActiveX will be a part of that installation.
As an aside - I'd also call the company to complain. You should not have to install anything extra in order to access a web-based interface. It's shoddy design on the part of the DVR manufacturer. |
