I'm pretty sure you can. On the website it says that you enter the same password that you use for iTunes, so my guess is that you sign in with the same apple ID therefore same billing info etc??? It comes out tomorrow though, so I guess we'll find out!

Have a look at the first screenshot on the mac site....you'l notice on the right hand side under quicklinks it says "redeem"

Apple - App Store - Buy, download, and install apps made for Mac.

Redeem could be only for Apple gift cards. I don't believe you can use iTunes gift cards for purchasing from the Apple on line store which sells hardware? But I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Did you notice on the example site for the store that it shows the iWork suite applications selling separately? Wonder what the cost will be for Pages?

Yep I just noticed that before you posted it. But you beat me to the post. That's cool though. So now everyone knows.

And another question. If you redeem your itunes card on the app store. Is the amount linked to your account so say for example you can spend some on itunes Apps and some on itunes music? Or must you spend the entire card on music or Apps?

I think you can spend the amount which ever way you wish but just asking to make sure.

Yeah...I had some money left over that I was using on the app store on my ipad, and it showed up in the Mac App store, and itunes, so you can use it anywhere.

Says you can redeem iTunes cards there. Still not sure about existing iTunes credit.

Found no where in the app store that indicates I have a credit. Went ahead and upgraded to Aperture 3 last night and the same credit amount is still showing in the iTunes store this morning. However, I have not received notice of the charge from the app store yet, so...

Will post back after I see the charge notice from Apple.

Just to verify: yes. Yes, existing iTunes credit, or new iTunes gift cards, work fine in all of the following:

a. The iTunes Store
b. The iApps Store
c. The Mac App Store
d. iBooks

I see my same credit in all of those places, and can purchase anything I want in any of them with it.

Other countries may or may not have some restrictions on what can be purchased with iTunes credit, but in the US there doesn't seem to be anything in the iStores you can't buy with existing or new iTunes codes or credit.

That does not show in my account either before or after my purchase last night.

Here is what is shown currently.

App Store

iTunes Store

Not disagreeing at this point, just not seeing it here yet.

Bob: any possibility that you have more than one iTunes account in the household, or are signed in to more than one countries' store? I have a US iTunes account and a Canadian one (which is annoyingly difficult for my tiny brain to manage, I don't recommend it!) and I sometimes open iTunes to find no credit, and realise I'm in the Canadian store not the US store.

Nope, only have the one iTunes account - used on 4 computers, both iPhones, and iPad. Have never had a 2nd iTunes account.

I can now confirm, I have received the invoice and I was charged the full amount for Aperture 3 from the app store and my existing credit still remains in the iTunes store.

I'm with bobtomay on this. I have a credit balance at iTunes, but it doesn't show on the new Mac store. That's just dumb. They know I'm the same person, and the account data is the same, but the credit isn't transferring. Not well done, Apple.
