Hello,
I was just wondering what wire I should buy that would connect my MacBook Pro to my HDTV with video and audio. My friend at college has a wire that connects his macbook to his HDTV, but he only gets video but has to have the sound come out of his macbook. My TV has an HDMI port and I just bought my Macbook a couple of months ago. What wire would be best for me to use? Thank you!

Please see this topic here: Connecting your Mac to your TV

If you have a 2010 MBP, it supports audio out through the displayport. So you need a mini-display port to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable.

Check post #4 in the link above for the adapter. Make sure the adapter specifically states that it supports audio. Many do not. Still do not suggest buying one of the cheap adapters from Amazon. Warning: The reviews for those <$10 adapters are NO GOOD. They refer to multiple different adapters that Amazon has sold from the same page - some that did support audio and some that did not.

This "assumes" the MBP you bought a couple of months ago is the "current" model, not a refurb or used machine.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
