Need a Little Video Help/Advice

Ok so for a friend I want to make a compilation video for him where I want to take clips of video from random youtube videos that he has made over the years. Sorta have close to zero experience with video making/editing and I was wondering how you would go about this? Free would be ideal, thanks guys!

If you have a Mac (which according to your specs you do), you can use iMovie to snip-and-clip. It's extremely easy and has a timeline across the bottom. Just imagine a movie projector filmstrip that you are cutting with scissors and taping together.
And then you can use iDVD to make it DVD-ready.

Sorry, I assumed your friend had the originals on his computer or video camera.
You're right, you would need the movie files.

I have a similar software on my Mac, but it is one of the many applications that I have that I don't remember what they do

ya it is sorta going to be a surprise for his 1000th episode so i was trying to not let him know so I wasn't sure if there was a way to just pull them or just part of the video from it just by going to the link thru youtube?

Anyone know if I can just pull certain segments from Youtube, I really hope so because I have a huge spreadsheet made with every episode and the time snapshot I want to use
