OK, I'm a fairly competent user of macs as my dad has a few imac g3s (yes, crap i now!) and my mate has an emac and a ibook. i know that macs have very good stability and the os is streets ahead fo windoze but i'm still not to sure. i do graphic design, audio editing, 3d design, web design, net surfing and play a fair few games.
if i were to get a sexy new mac i'd get a 20" imac g5 with 1gb ram & 250gb hdd, anybody own one? if you do please tell me about it's performance in such applications as photoshop & cinema 4d if you use these. as for my gaming habit can alway get a new graphics card for my fairly old but competent pc rig and maybe get a ps3 soon depending on price. please leave comments, thanks here's the spec i'm looking @: Apple iMac G5 20" Widescreen £999ex VAT 2ghz IBM Power PC Processor 667mhz FSB 1024mb DDR400 Ram (512mb Upgrade)(+ £75 inc VAT) 250gb SATA HDD 8x Slot Loading Dual Layer DVDRW ATI Radeon 9600 256mb Graphics 56k Internal Modem Built-In Stereo Speakers Built-In Bluetooth & AirPort Extreme Gigabit Ethernet White Apple Bluetooth Mouse & Keyboard (+£34 inc VAT) iLife '05 & Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger |

it'd be great for PS and C4D - the G5 will help alot with render times and viewing large projects in realtime.

from what you listed that you would be doing with your system, i would go with the mac system since it does those things better than a comparable pc based machine. if, on the other hand you were getting it to mainly play games, i would recommend an amd based pc. From a G4 400MHz to an Intel Mac Mini to iMac Core Duo to a Macbook Pro 2.6GHz.............gotta love Apple! |
