When I switched I continued to use the old wireless modem that I used with my PC. It is about 5 years old but works fine as far as I can tell. Is there any reason to get a new modem? If yes, does it matter whether it is the Airport or one supplied by my ISP Earthlink?

Are you talking about a wireless modem...or a wireless router?

I mis-spoke. A wireless router not modem. Keep very old one, get an airport, or get one from Earthlink?

Thanks

There's no reason to change your wireless router out if it's working fine and assuming it has support for WPA encryption (if it's just using WEP, then it's time to get a new one that supports WPA or WPA2 as WEP is useless and your network is not secure).

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

You should have selected an encryption type when you first configured the router. If you don't remember what you selected, you'll need to log into your router's configuration webpage and set it appropriately.

Since the process varies by router make/model (and is also password protected), you'll want to consult with your documentation for the particulars.
