I just bought a MacBook Pro on craigslist, and the long and short of it is, the dude i bought it from is still the administrator, and he didn't tell me his password. How do I get rid of him as the administrator and create a new account?

The best thing to do would be to completely wipe the HD and reinstall the OS.
That will give you a clean mac, that you then can customize to your liking.

You can, by using the Install DVD reset the admin password.
Insert the Install DVD and restart while holding the c key.
The choose your language and some menu in the menubar there is an option to reset the password.
Then login to his account and make a new admin account, log out of his account, log into yours and delete his.
