    email virus?
So I got an email from a friend with a link to an online pharma site she obviously didn't intend to sent out. It looks like the emails were broken down into a few different groups with each going to about 9-10 users.

She uses a Mac with yahoo webmail.

    Any ideas?

    Specs:
    Mid 2015 15" rMBP, 2.8GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB Storage, AMD Radeon R9 M370X, 10.11.1
Not a virus. There are no viruses for Mac. She could have however been scammed into doing that, or tricked.

Or it could not even be from her and a spammer spoofing her email address. Could be hacked account. She should change the password on her email account.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

This. Especially with a free email account like Google, it's easy to hack an account and send out spam emails. Happens all the time. It's not a virus.
Don't know what I'm supposed to say, but I keep speaking these words anyway.

Similar thing happened to me with my hotmail. Turned out someone just hacked the e-mail account. So I changed my password for all my e-mail accounts (3 of them) and haven't noticed any issues since.
As mentioned, nothing too uncommon with free web-based e-mail accouns.
