    how can i wipe and reinstall the software on my ibook g4?
    hi, i received a used i-book g4, being my first mac computer, i have no idea how to do much on it. the computers software seems to be outdated and it hasn't been used for almost a year. whenever i try to access any settings for the computer or networking it tells me i do not have sufficient access privileges. the previous owner had a apple tech try to fix it also but it they cost a lot and he didn't want to pay him per hr.....neither do i, so there is a tech support account on the welcome page. does anyone know what i should do and how to do it or what i need to do it?

    Hi Welcome to the Forum. First the Big question - did u get the original install discs with the iBook when you bought it. If so power on, pop the disk in and hold the C Key and you will be guided thru the install process.

    In that case you need one of these;

    Click for full size

    but as you don't say which iBook you have u need to check it has a DVD reader if not then u need CDs which are harder to find.

    Look here for your specs

    Yes they sure do which is why you should have asked for them to be included.

    Open the pocket and purchase.
