So I finally made the switch to an iMac. I've been using eMachines to get me through college and for a few years after. I've been through multiple computers over the last few years and I was finally in the position to make my first Apple purchase. I chose the 27" iMac with the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I haven't even had a chance to play with it just yet, but I've been drooling over them for some time now. I hope to learn a lot about these machines in the years to come and hope to some day offer insight of my own.

I can't believe how crystal clear the screen is. The customer service at the Apple store was also unrivaled. They stayed with me until about 9:45pm to get everything that we purchased registered and even did our rebate right there on the spot. After all was set and done, they helped me load everything in my car.

I am sure you will LOVE the new iMac. I know I love mine. I had a similar experience at the Apple Store when I purchased mine. I didn't make a sales appointment, but had called to see if they had the i5 in stock. When they said yes, I told them I would be there in about an hour. They were busy when I got there, but when a sales person was free, she spent about an hour with me answering any questions I had, and getting the AppleCare registered for the iMac and the iPod i bought as well. It was just an all around pleasurable experience.

I hope I don't have to go back to the Apple Store though, but for other reasons. The store is in downtown Norfolk, which is undergoing major construction, and getting anywhere is a PITA. I hope i never have to go back to Norfolk again.

Welcome to the club! Poke around - I've learned more in a few months on here than in 3 years of Mac ownership before hand.

Just a stupid kid with a computer, so take my advice with a grain of salt if that makes a difference to you.

Hilarious, switching from an eMachine to an iMac. Wow - you didn't gradually make your move. It's like a homeless guy winning the lottery.

I see what you did there.........
But luck doesn't have anything to do with it in this case. I just worked hard and "settled" for a cheap computer to get me through school and stuff and saved for what I wanted. It was a hard thing to do for sure. It felt great to pay cash for it too

Exactly. I'm a sponge so hopefully I learn a lot from this site as well as the "One on one" sessions from the Apple store

I'd say an '85 Camry to a 2010 Audio RS8, but that's just me...
