is it possible? I kinda miss linux. But since osx is BSD based, seems to me somewhere out there someone must have figured a way to run the great apps on linux.

Then no.

OS X has a huge number of APIs and libraries with no equivalent elsewhere. OS X is not just BSD; there's the Cocoa/NextStep objects, the Quartz graphics, and services like QuickTime, and CoreAudio that many apps depend on. Reverse-engineering all of them would be a monumental task, basically like re-developing OS X.

It's much easier to go the other way around, running XWindows apps on OS X. Quite a few have been ported.

I can't imagine that FCP would even be worth running on linux even if somehow your could... especially the new versions which rely so much quartz and GPU based rendering. My understanding is that graphic stuff is terrible on linux.
