Just got my new iMac - never had one before. When connecting my old USB Speakers, they will be recognized and the machine switches from internal to external speakers - fine. But after restarting the Mac - it will revert to internal speakers and stay there until I pull and reset the USB plug, i.e. it will not see the speakers if they are connected during restart. What to do?

Are they listed if you Option+Click the volume icon ?

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

No mrplow - they are not listed after restart - only after cycling the USB plug or power to the speakers.
