    name for hard drive icon
This is kind of trivial question. I accidentally renamed the icon on my desktop for my hard drive. I have a MacBook Air. I have no clue as to how this happened. I type way too fast! Anyway, does anyone know what the original name is for the hard drive icon? The description. Which drive is it? I just want to name it back what it should be so there are no issues down the road of mapping to the right folders, etc.

    Thanks!

    Specs:
    2008 15" MBP Yosemite, 2012 21.5" iMac Yosemite
Not sure if it really matters what you call it, but the default for mine is just "Macintosh HD".
    Hope that helps.

Thank you! I'm not sure it matters either, but my bf told me it might. Just wanted to be sure.

Since we're here, what are others naming their OS X partition?

    Mine is Black Mask.

    Specs:
    Mid-2012 MBP (16GB, 1TB HD), Monoprice 24-inch second monitor, iPhone 5s 32GB, iPad Air 2 64GB
My hard drive is not partitioned, so it's named BlackBook (since that's what I have).

External volumes include Blackula, Blacksploitation, and Blacktacular (the last one is of course my largest drive).

The backup volume is, as you might expect, called BlackUp.

Apollo. I name all of my storage devices after Greek or Roman gods. My iPod is called Mercury, my 2GB thumb drive is called Zeus and my TM HD is called Poseidon. Why? No reason.

Unique and weird.. Zeus should be more than 2GB

As for me, nothing special. Macintosh HD.

Though, I may change it to WhiteBook in honor of chas_m

Real original, I know.... especially since it was Mac Mini HD out of the box.
