So my computer hung today and I had to force it to shut down and re-start. When the unit fired up, all of the settings were completely reset.

When I open the terminal, my prompt looks like this

Code:
brian-laptop:~ Chase$
I have no idea who brian is, nor why my MBP would say brian-laptop.

What could be the issue?

Also, I went into the "Sharing" section of my System Preferences, and my computer name is "Chases-MacbookPro"

Ideas?

Anyone else using your computer? Any other accounts activated besides yours? Are you on a network?

I purchased a new Patriot SSD about a month ago and completely formatted my disk and started from scratch. I am the only owner of this Mac.

I AM on a Network but no one else has access to my machine.

Make sure you have sharing turned off. Also, are you connecting wireless to the net? If you are, use strong encryption - WPA2.

Regards.
